So you have a website and want to market it and make it a rockin site. How do you do this? How do you go about getting your blog out there to be seen and known by others? How do you pull in visitors and keep them coming back for more? There are many ways to get your blog out there and seen. This is known as hard for some people and quite easy for others. If you have ever had a rockin blog before then you know what it takes. You are not going to move forward by just building a blog and wishing that folks will find it and read it. You are not going to gain any back links, nor a higher SEO ranking by just having a blog. This is all part of blog marketing. Everyone can do it, even you.

Successful blog marketing tip number one. When you first create a blog, of course it is unknown. No one knows anything about the blog unless you give them the URL and show it to them. However, for a new blog that has never been seen, there are many ways to get it out there and seen. You just need to know how. The first thing that you can do is to allow RSS feeds be taken from your blog. Allow other websites and blogs to publish your blog. When you do this, they are handing you a back link to your blog, and also telling their readers all about your blog. You will get more traffic than ever with this tool. RSS feeds are wonderful for promoting and getting your site out there.

Blog marketing tip number two. Update your blog frequently. We can not put enough emphasis on this tip. If you tell your readers that you are going to update your blog everyday, then do it. If you tell them that you will be writing in your blog each week, don’t let them down. Your visitors are what makes your blog rockin!! You may not recognize this in the beginning, and you will have few subscribers in the beginning as well, but you will eventually build a readership base and have people checking out your blog regularly. Maybe you don’t plan on telling your readers how often you will update your site. That is ok too. However, think about this, if you were reading a blog weekly, and you expected to see the blog that you like to read updated at least once a week, you would be very disappointed to find out that it wasn’t. Sure, things happen that might keep you from updating, and that is expected, and excused, but week after week can hurt you and cause you to lose subscribers.

Tip number three. While you are working on your readership base, and trying to gain subscribers, you are going to find that commenting on sites that are relevant to yours will certainly help. Find a blog that is on the same niche to yours, or close to it and leave comments. You can also make a track back with your blog postings to comment on your own blog. Doing so will probably more than likely give somebody else the urge to track back to your website. Which will be beneficial for it as well. Commenting on blogs that get a lot of comments will make yours be seen by those interested in that market. You will gain traffic and subscribers that way, and it is easy as well as free.

The fourth blog marketing tip. Discover and apply SEO to your sites. SEO is search engine optimization. You are going to find that if you want your blog to succeed, you need SEO, and you need to know how to use it to the advantage of your blog. Just like a website, a blog will be better off optimized.

In any kind of Internet Marketing Business whether you are on online entrepreneur or have a brick and mortar business that is doing it’s marketing online, you need to build up our customer and subscriber base. In order to do that, you need to capture their email address. If you send emails to people who haven’t given you their email address, it’s called spam and there are hefty fines for spamming peoples emails, so ya don’t want to do that!

So have a reason for people to give you their email address. Something like a free guide or report for people to opt in for and give you their email address. People who are interested in what you do. I build my list around blogging. I like to blog, set up blogs, tweak them and make them very customized. That’s what’s fun to me! if I could make blogs all day, I would!

Once you confirm,  you will be taken to the download page for your goodies! This is all automatic. Yay! I am not sitting here sending all my subscribers thank you and confirmation emails all day!

On the thank you page and the download page, I have some free offers from my friends and some of them have upsells and some of them don’t.

Apparently my thank you page works! I have had quite a few people grab my freebies AND also purchase some of the products that are offered.

I learned about having a thank you page a few months ago from a fellow marketer and it is prime real estate! Not only does it look more professional, it also has space for some great advertising for some affiliate programs that I think are news worthy!

Your download page is another place you can put links to your stuff or other people’s stuff. Just remember if you are promoting something to your readers, you should always check it out first!! I learned that the hard way I promoted something in my learning days that I thought would help and it turned out to be crap (but I really liked the graphics!) And I pissed people off.  Not cool.  Sorry about that!

So now that you know all about thank you pages and real estate, let’s get on to the good stuff!!

Hello? Hello?…where are you??

Lookin for me? I am still here, but I have been working diligently on my product! And I have had tons of help, so hold on!

So y’all that know me, know I had another AHA! moment! I have finally realized that in order to succeed; I have to focus on one thing at a time! (What a concept!!) DUH!

You see,  I thought I was focused, unfortunately it’s wasn’t on one thing at a time!! It was on a bunch of different things and you know that just puts us on overload! UGH!!

Now don’t go talkin trash, I know y’all do that too!

I’ve seen it, I have done it and I think it’s a normal thing in Internet Marketing. Just about everyone jumps from one thing to another until they have their own AHA! moment. And something happens where it all fits together.

For instance, how many emails do you subscribe to? Are they really helping you? Or are you waiting on the perfect one that has the magic button to online wealth or the latest and greatest thing? Be honest.

How many things have you bought this past year? Things you are going to use LATER? How many crappy products are sitting on your hard drive? How many have you actually implemented and used? Are they working? Be honest, now.

And how much money have you spent looking for the answer? Thousands? Yup!

How many times have you got online and said to yourself “Self, what can I do today to make this online experience better for someone else?” Huh? Help someone else?? Be honest about this one too!

I have a very dear friend and every time I get an email from him, he tells me something cool that can help me in my business. Not things I can use tomorrow, but things I can use today to grow my internet business. He will even tell me NOT to buy something if he knows I don’t need it!  I totally look forward to his emails!

I’ve heard from some really cool bloggers that readers like checklists. (I have also heard they SUCK!) but I did it anyway!!

You know, blogging is a very cool hobby or business to have. You can post exactly what’s on your mind(within reason). It’s YOUR blog isn’t it? It’s also very cool to see that you have a new reader or your traffic has increased to your blog! There are even advertisers that offer money for blogs that get lots of traffic, so blogging can also make you some moo-lah too! Yay!

Tip #1 | Be yourself

The best blogs are not written using formal grammar rules. You don’t want to think about our 7th grade Language Arts teacher reading your blog and correcting your grammar. Now I am not saying that you should just write anything but honestly, being formal is boring and your readers don’t want to read through a bunch of perfect grammar posts. So if you want your blog to be popular, write it like you are talking to your friends.

Maybe not the “What’s up Dawg?” type, but a normal conversation. You can use slang and other words that may not be “proper” (don’t get nasty, tho). Although I did have one reader tell me that y’all was not a word! (It is in MY book!!) Being funny is also a good way to make people want to keep coming back to read your posts.

Tip #2 | Spell Check

Even though the tone of your blog is casual, edit your work. You can be casual, without being sloppy or rude. Check your spelling before you submit your post. You don’t want posts that are sloppy and full of errors. People will wonder why they should listen to you and probably won’t take anything you say seriously. So remember to SPELL CHECK!

Tip #3 | No Long Posts

Short blog posts will help you keep your readers. Most folks don’t want to spend a ton of time reading blog posts. Stick to your point and keep it short. A blog that is about 400-500 words is more likely to be read. If you have more to write, make another blog post. Give your readers a break.

Tip # 4 | Flexibility

Be flexible with your blog posts. If you have a niche blog, post about different topics in your chosen niche. If you have a lifestyle blog, then there are tons of things you can write about. Just be flexible. Post on everything you are interested in. There are millions of people interested in the same thing. You could even post about popular things in the news, (politics and religion might get you in a blog fight) but current events can bring people to your site when they do a web search! That’s what’s called FREE traffic!

Tip #5 | Advertising Woes

This is a biggie! Too many people only advertise things on their blog and have no real content. Now if you have a review blog, that’s another story, but is a review blog really a blog? Or just advertising space? Advertising is OK but be nice about it. Give great content and if you find something that will help your readers, then by all means, put it on your blog. But not every post and not every page. You don’t want to scare people away!!

Tip # 6 | Last but not least (and MY biggest blogging failure) Consistency!

Folks who read your blog will be looking for a new post every few days. Maybe only once a week. But if you want to keep your blog fresh(and have new subscribers), then you have to post often. Maybe you put new posts up every Saturday. If you do, then be consistent!If you are keeping your blog posts short and sweet (as mentioned above) then you should be able to at least post once a week. 2-3 times is better. I read a blog that has a new post every Tuesday morning, so on Tuesday morning, I go to see what’s new. Now if there wasn’t a new post on Tuesday, I would probably be disappointed because Tuesday morning has been the “new blog post” day for over a year. So, be consistent!

I was using this Eazy Theme from Tony Shepard, and have changed it up to the Profits Theme, cause I like to mess around with blog set up  and themes! So let’s see what it can do! It looks PROMISING!!
